Edensoaring (w/c 18th September)

Postby Pete » Fri May 21, 2010 1:42 pm

This September myself and a couple of others (Dave Bromley and Mike Pettican for those that know them) are looking at spending a week up at Edensoaring, based at Skelling Farm near Penrith, and I was wondering if any other club members might be interested in coming along too.

This is a relatively new club, established in 2008 to take advantage of the ridge and wave possibilities available on and around Cross Fell.
It looks to be an interesting site, with alot of potential for good flights in varying conditions. The airfield itself, however, can be a little tricky with crosswinds and obstacles, and so the minimum qualification for visiting pilots is Bronze with XC endorsement. Their website http://www.edensoaring.co.uk/ has alot of details for visiting pilots. I recommend you check it out!

There is a club two seater, for check flights and local familiarisation, but that is the extent of their fleet, so anyone coming along would need their own glider to fly, or have borrowed one for the week.

Currently we are looking at a 6/7 bed cottage, close to the airfield. There are other cottages available in the same location, if more beds are required. The cost for the accomodation looks to be under £100 pp for the week.

The dates and details are being ironed out as we speak, but spaces are limited, so if you would be interested in a fun week of flying at a new and interesting site, let me know asap.

Cheers,

Pete Davey

I demand a payment if you are going to fly at my gliding club.
Gliding is life. Anything before or after is just crewing.
